Think Pink, Wear Pink!!

The month of October is dedicated to breast cancer awareness campaign the world over. Organisations and NGO's across the world plan various activities and campaigns in support of this noble cause. This has been a cause I felt strongly for since day 1.

There is so much we can do if we put our heart and soul into what matters to us; what is close to our heart. This cancer awareness campaign is one such. I read the other day that Trivandrum has the second highest incidence in terms of new cases of breast cancer reported in South India after Bangalore. This trend is scary as well as worrying!

I realised that very little is known about this cancer. So, to begin with, create awareness about the dreaded disease. To educate others, we need to be aware first. Read up, educate urself first before educating others. Have been reading up quite a bit on the same and managed to bust a few myths in my own mind about the cancer. For one, it occurs only in older women. No. Studies have proved that it affects women as young as 20-25 years! Experts vouch for the fact that early detection is the best way of increasing the chances of survival.

18th October, being Wear Pink to Work Day, ensured that even little Leah, all of 2 years, also wore pink to daycare! A few us wore pink to office, others could not join in due to short notice. No problem. Will have another day when all can wear pink to office and plan a slew of do-able activities in office itself!

Pledge your support for the cause! Do your bit!
